John DeVore has spent the last 35 years studying and practicing landscape and garden design and construction. As a student at Ohio State University’s Agricultural Technical Institute, USA, he studied nursery management, horticulture and landscape design and is now a Master OCNT (Ohio Certified Nursery Technician), and accomplished trainer.
In 1979 he decided to set up his own garden and landscape design/build company, serving the south-west Ohio, USA area, but also undertook further training in landscape design, horticulture, stone masonry, hardscape, water garden construction and ecological restoration.
John is an active member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD), attending workshops and seminars led by cutting-edge designers and organizations such as The Whispering Crane Institute, Greg Pierceall, Green Roofs for Health Cities, Robin Templar Williams and David Slawson. He has also completed practical training courses run by The Stone Foundation, National Association of Pond Professionals, the Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association.
John’s business, DeVore’s Land and Water Gardens (formerly DeVore’s Landscape Service) is best known for the artistic quality and outstanding craftsmanship of its work with stone, water and ornamental horticulture. However, John’s knowledge and experience of the American garden and landscape design industry is extraordinarily wide, encompassing every aspect of the design and build process.
